Dr. Ilka Bischofs
Join us!
The pioneering spirit of our team members, the eagerness to learn and the readiness to develop and apply new technologies are crucial for the success of our research mission. The µCATs Lab fosters the professional growth of junior researchers from different scientific disciplines at every career stage, guiding them towards scientific independence. It offers an excellent setting for conducting state-of-the-art research and honing specialized skills within an interdisciplinary and cooperative environment.
Doctoral and Postdoc Researchers
If you are interested in doctoral or postdoctoral studies, please submit your CV and a short summary of your research experience and research interests by email to ilka.bischofs(at)bioquant.uni-heidelberg.de. Doctoral candidates can select from different PhD programs that are tailored to their specific interests, including Columbus, HBIGS and the IMPRS Principles for Microbial Life.
Bachelor and Master Students
We welcome applications from both master's and bachelor's students for lab rotations and thesis projects. If you're interested, kindly provide a concise description of your research interests and attach your CV along with your academic transcripts.
Rotation Projects
Lab rotations typically focus on the use of one (or sometimes two) of the following techniques:
* Molecular systems microbiology (small scale and global analysis)
* Synthetic biology/Genetic engineering
* Microscopy (Quantitative fluorescence microscopy, Timelapse imaging, FRET, Electron Microscopy)
* Microfluidics
* Image processing and statistical data analysis
* Mathematical and biophysical modeling
* Computer simulations
Please indicate your preferences with your application.
